Why it exists

A James Beard kitchen, on Main Street.

What it solves

The towns outside Boston have plenty of chain dining and very little of the craft the city takes for granted. The Charles brings a chef's kitchen to the suburbs in the most familiar form New England has: the tavern.

It is also a new model for the group. The founders own the land and the building, so the restaurant operates on its own real estate.

Why guests will want it

A layered, welcoming room where warmth meets wonder. It is the neighborhood place for a weeknight burger, a Friday with friends and every celebration in between.

The room

The old fern bar is the unifying typology. The menu is in development with Tim and the culinary team ahead of opening.
