Japanese tavern · The Verb Hotel, 1271 Boylston St, Fenway · Since 2015
Boston's irreverent Japanese tavern: vinyl on, cocktails loud, food joyful and craveable. High-end technique meets low-key fun.
Why it exists
The beautiful chaos of a Japanese tavern.
The Cushmans wanted a place for serious food with no formality: loud, playful and open late. The Verb, a rock-and-roll hotel beside Fenway Park, was the right stage. Hojoko redefined what a hotel restaurant could be, playful yet precise, youthful yet rooted in craft.
It is a party with a great kitchen. Vinyl on the walls and music turned up, frozen tiki drinks and punch from the tank, sake bombs, creative maki and a bacon-wrapped hot dog. It works for a pre-game crowd, a hotel guest's first night in town and friends who want to stay out.
Built for hotels
Hojoko is our most direct proof for a hotel partner: the restaurant and bar a lifestyle hotel builds its identity around.
